Known as “Wisconsin’s Last Wilderness ” this moniker is right on as Presque Isle remains a quiet little haven at the top of the state. Surrounded by the Ottawa National Forest and by over 1000 lakes and 70 rivers it truly is “almost an island” as the name Presque Isle suggests. When looking for property in the Northwoods consider this beautiful and tranquil town that has lower density on it lakes than most. This small community has about 600 full time residents with a higher population during the summer months when all our snowbirds fly back in.  Never crowded unless you are counting  deer !

Presque Isle is full of quality lakes that have some of the best fishing around. Whether you’re looking for that monster musky or a crappie dinner this towns lakes can provide it. Lower density on our lakes makes it a perfect town for kayaking and paddle boarding as well.

Looking for a great day of hiking? Grab your binoculars before you leave as Presque Isle is a designated Bird City.  Head out to one of our many nature trails which include the Catherine Wolter Wilderness area. A 189 acre nature preserve also groomed in the winter for cross country skiing. The Van Vilet Hemlocks State Natural Area is truly a gem of Presque Isle you will not want to miss.

Round out your days by coming back to your cabin and sitting at the end of your dock with your favorite drink, maybe an old fashioned after all your in Wisconsin now! Sunsets are spectacular here and if you stay up long enough you will see a night sky clearer than most.  With few streetlights and homes spaced apart star gazing here is excellent. If you are lucky you will catch the aurora borealis at play.
